THINK POSITIVE
If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will–
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!
by WALTER D. WINTLE, “The Man Who Thinks He Can.”
I have carried a version of this poem with me (in my purse) for the last twenty years. The original is posted above, but for the copy in my purse, I did change it a bit … I changed the word “he” to “she” and “man” to “person” of course.
Someone gave this poem to me as inspiration, so now, I pass it on to you.
This poem reminds me to always think positively. It really does makes a difference when you think positively. One positive thought puts a smile on your face spreading warmth over the rest of your being.
The tone of how you talk also changes when you smile. Try smiling when you talk to someone. Notice how different the conversation turns out to be.
I love how this tree decided to grow not far from the Halema’uma’u volcanic crater. There is nothing stopping it from growing near an active lava area. (You can see the steam vents in my photo.) I love its courage, persistence and perseverance! This tree is definitely on the positive path!
This poem by Mr. Wintle is mentioned by Napoleon Hill in his book, Think and Grow Rich too. His book repeatedly states that what you think becomes reality.
Napoleon Hill states: “The subconscious mind, (the chemical laboratory in which all thought impulses are combined, and made ready for translation into physical reality), makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by FEAR just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by COURAGE, or FAITH.”
One positive thought brings on another, just as a wave spread across the water. What is your positive thought of the day?
If you cannot think of one, start with something easy … like … I am awake. I am alive. I am grateful to have the ability to read these words. I have a mouth in which I can use for a smile. A smile comes to my face when I think of …
